GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg entered the D3baseball.com/NCBWA Div. III poll at 21st when the Week 3 ranking was released on Monday night.
The Bullets (14-0) are in the poll for the first time since the 2014 season.
Gettysburg is off to the best start in program history with 14 straight victories to start the year. The Orange and Blue is one of three teams in Division III that remains undefeated through at least eight games.
Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) leads the offense with a .451 average, rapping out 23 hits with eight doubles, a triple and home run. He has scored a team-high 23 runs to go with 15 RBIs.
Matt Nichols (White Plains, N.Y./Byram Hills) is hitting .424 with 14 hits and 11 RBIs.
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) is hitting .396 with 21 hits that includes four doubles, four triples and two home runs for a team-best .736 slugging percentage. He has driven in a team-high 30 runs.
John Francesconi (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) and
Alex Wilkie-Viscio (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) lead the pitching staff. Francesconi has a 0.98 earned-run average over 18 1/3 innings. He has struck out 18 batters with just four walks and is 3-0 on the year. Wilkie-Viscio has 21 strikeouts and no walks in 25 1/3 innings of work, posting a 1.78 ERA and is also 3-0.
The Bullets return to action at home against Stevenson on Wednesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
