THE SKINNY STORY
After capturing a 2-1 victory in game one, Gettysburg put up multiple runs in each of the first five innings to complete a sweep of Mount Aloysius, 18-1.
THE LEADERS
•
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led the Bullets with four hits, six RBIs and two runs scored on the day. He went 3-for-3 with six RBIs in the second game.
•
Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) added four hits, five runs and two RBIs on the day. He went 3-for-3 in the nightcap.
FOR THE FOES
• Tyler Quade had two hits in game one to lead the Mounties.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener, Tyler Day and Cole Harknell drew back-to-back walks to lead off the second before a one-out error loaded the bases and a Sidric Grove sacrifice fly staked Mount Aloysius to a 1-0 lead.
• Gettysburg had just one runner get to second base through the first four innings. With two outs in the fifth,
Jack Burke doubled to left before stealing third.
Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) poked a single into the gap to tie the game before a passed ball and intentional walk to
Jack Pistner put two runners on.
Matt Nichols (White Plains, N.Y./Byram Hills) followed with a ball through the left side that plated Stellato with the go-ahead run. The Mounties loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning but Stellato made a diving snag to end the threat and preserve the one-run lead.
• The Bullet bats went to work early in the nightcap. Burke lofted a one-out double to left before stealing third and scoring on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead. A walk to Pistner, groundout and pair of wild pitches made it 2-0.
•
David Ruckman (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) and
Brian Andersen (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) drew back-to-back walks to start the second. A pair of wild pitches and balk made it 3-0 before a
Henry Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) single and sacrifice stretched the lead to 4-0 with a runner at second and one out. Burke followed with his second double in as many innings. A Pistner RBI single and Stellato squeeze made it 6-0 after two.
• A Pistner three-run home run to right highlighted a six-run third inning. Burke also had a two-run single with the bases loaded right before that. Ruckman,
Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy),
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) and Nichols also all had base knocks in the frame.
• A two-run Pistner single down the line after an Andersen single and back-to-back one-out free passes made it 14-0 before a Stellato RBI groundout stretched the lead to 15 after four.
• Gettysburg tacked on three more in the fifth before a Jameson Chalupka pinch-hit double and Tyler Alexander single broke up the shutout in the sixth.

Matt Nichols had two hits in the first game, including the game-winning single.
•

• In addition to the three-hit games from
Jack Burke and
Jack Pistner in game two,

•
James Weedon (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Chaminade) struck out eight batters and allowed just two hits and a walk in an efficient 5 2/3 innings for the win.
