THE REST OF THE STORY
•
Julia Daly opened the scoring off a turnover in the midfield to stake Gettysburg to a 1-0 lead in the game's first 2:40. Two minutes later,
Emily Crane found the back of the net to double the advantage. Daly then found
Sarah Scollin (Oreland, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) in front for an advantage goal with 8:53 on the clock. Daly then took a feed from Crane and finished in the final 2:39 of the opening period for a 4-0 advantage after one quarter.
•
Nina Marra (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) opened the second-period scoring, taking a
Michaela Kelly (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) feed on the doorstep and finishing high for a 5-0 lead. Jenna Nowland broke up the shutout with 11:52 to play but Kelly needed just 1 minute, 17 seconds to reestablish the five-goal lead, finishing a give-and-go with Daly. A Scollin free-position goal and Daly's third marker in a 57-second span made it 8-1 with 8:27 showing. Two minutes later,
Maddie Passarello (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) converted the Bullets' second advantage goal and then Crane added a player-down goal with 2:58 showing.
Sophie Smith (Great Falls, Va./Langley) snagged a high pass from Daly and put it home to reach the 10-goal margin at 11-1 just 25 seconds before the break.
• Carson Cerow returned the deficit to nine with 13:16 to play in the third but Smith needed less than a minute to stretch the lead back to 10, this time corralling a pass from Scollin in front of the cage. Scollin then found Daly with 8:00 remaining for a 13-2 lead. Bella Guckes added a goal to her earlier assist with 5:30 to play but Marra responded less than two minutes later.
Meghan Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) then fired home from distance with 75 seconds left in the third quarter for a 14-3 lead.
• Sage Whiteside scored for Dickinson with 11:45 remaining before Daly capped her day off Scollin's third assist with 7:40 to play for the final margin.
