Gettysburg vies for CC title starting Tuesday

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg will travel to Westminster, Md., for the first game of the 2025 Centennial Conference (CC) baseball championship tournament on Tuesday. Game time is 3 p.m.

In the five-team format, the Bullets (30-10, 9-9 CC) earned the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 McDaniel (18-20-1, 9-9 CC) in a single-elimination first-round game. The winner will advance to top-seeded Johns Hopkins (36-3, 17-1 CC) on Thursday for the first round of the of the double-elimination tournament. Second-seeded Swarthmore (23-16, 14-4 CC) will host third-seeded Haverford (22-14, 10-8 CC) in the other game on Thursday. Both games will begin at 3 p.m. The four remaining teams will all travel to Baltimore for the remainder of the double-elimination tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Games being at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Tickets will be sold for each day of the CC tournament and will be available soon on the Centennial ticketing homepage. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students age 6 through high school and senior citizens. Children five and under as well as students and staff from conference institutions are free.

The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin at 16 regionals sites on May 16-18. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday, May 12.

The Bullets are seeking their first conference title. It is the seventh tournament appearance for Gettysburg and first since 2017. The Bullets also in search of their second NCAA tournament bid.

In the regular-season series between Gettysburg and McDaniel, the teams split with each winning on the other's home field. The Green Terror won 12-11 on Apr. 15 in eight innings in Gettysburg before the Bullets were on the winning end of a 21-17 decision in Westminster on Apr. 18.

Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) leads the offense this season with a .398 batting average and 47 hits. He has also walked 36 times for a team-best .560 on-base percentage. Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) is hitting .393 with a team-high 66 hits that includes a team-best 20 doubles and seven home runs. Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) has 60 hits and leads the team with nine home runs and five triples for a team-best .658 slugging percentage. He has also driven in a program-record 66 while hitting .373.

Alex Wilkie-Viscio (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) leads the pitching staff with a 3.18 earned-run average. He has a 38 strikeouts and just five walks in 57.0 innings pitched. He is 5-1 in 10 starts with two complete-game shutouts. John Francesconi (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) is 6-0 on the mound with 37 strikeouts in 44.0 innings. He has a 3.89 ERA in 12 appearances that includes four starts. James Weedon (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Chaminade) leads the staff with 51 strikeouts in 47 2/3 innings. He is 3-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 11 appearances that includes 10 starts.
