THE LEADERS
•
Audrey Bergan (Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Calif./La Jolla Country Day School) led the Bullets with five hits on the day. She also scored four runs and drove in two.
FOR THE FOES
• Samantha Mallen led the Bears with a hit in each game.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• With two outs in the third inning,
Audrey Bergan tripled to right field and scored on an error for just the second baserunner of the day for either team, staking Gettysburg to a 1-0 lead.
•
Elliana Hopple (Collegeville, Pa./The Episcopal Academy) led off the sixth with a single up the middle before giving way to pinch-runner
Zoe Brennan (Arlington, Va./Yorktown). A one-out single from
Renee Laczkowski (Erie, Colo./Erie) and two-out
Lauren O'Leary (Manasquan, N.J./Jackson Memorial) single up the middle gave the Bullets a 2-0 advantage.
• Samantha Mallen singled with one out in the bottom of the inning before an error and Kayla Carr single loaded the bases. A Reagan Robinson RBI groundout made it a 2-1 game.
• A Bergan one-out infield single, two-out hit batter and error set the final score in the top of the seventh.
• Bergan led off the second game with an infield single before two walks around a hit batter resulted in a 1-0 lead before an out was recorded. A Laczkowski RBI groundout made it 2-0 before
Anika Pelekis (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) singled home Hopple. A two-out error, passed ball, walk and Bergan two-run double gave Gettysburg a 7-0 lead in the top of the first.
• Anna Evanchik singled up the middle with one out in the home first before back-to-back two-out hits from Robinson and Stephanie Wickman cut the margin to 7-2.
• Bergan drew a one-out walk in the fourth before singles from
Jamie Shaw (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg) and
Morgan DeFreitas (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown West) stretched the lead to 8-2. A walk and error made it 9-2.
•
Lily Mader (Las Vegas, Nev./Valley) led off the fifth with a single before a
Abigail Gold (Apex, N.C./Apex) hit her first home run in a Gettysburg uniform for an 11-2 advantage and the run-rule victory.
