THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked 10th in the latest USILA Div. III coaches' poll, built a 10-3 halftime lead and held off a second-half charge from No. 7 Washington and Lee to record a 14-12 victory in the third round of the 2025 NCAA Div. III men's lacrosse tournament.
THE LEADERS

Jackson Barroll (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) led the Bullets on attack with four goals and an assist.

Murphy Hoey (Fairfield, Conn./Berkshire School) made a career-high 17 saves in goal.

THE REST OF THE STORY

Declan Mack (Wynnewood, Pa./Lower Marion) opened the scoring with 11:26 on the clock before
Jackson Barroll staked Gettysburg to a 2-0 lead just eight seconds later.
Patrick Maroney (Hingham, Mass./Boston College H.S.) made it a 3-0 game with 9:47 showing but Elliott Cohen needed just 15 seconds to break up the early run and get Washington and Lee on the board.
Nicholas Limberg (Dix Hills, N.Y./St. John the Baptist Diocesan) returned the lead to three with 5:20 showing. Goals from Robert Bath and Jack Dalton just over a minute apart closed the margin to 4-3 before
Jackson Alpaugh (Darien, Conn./Westminster School) found the back of the net in the final 37 seconds to make it a 5-3 game after one period.
• The goal propelled the visitors to a 5-0 second quarter and 10-3 lead at the intermission. Five different Bullets found the back of the net in the period. Alpaugh, Barroll and Limberg all had a goal and an assist in the run.
Ethan Kessler (Ridgefield, Conn./Millbrook School) and
Andy Marquet (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) also scored goals.
• Washington and Lee responded with a 6-1 third quarter to close to within 11-9. Collin Beatty and Hillis Burns scored a minute apart to make it 10-5 with 11:52 on the clock before Barroll pushed the lead back to six with 8:29 to play. Two Byron Newman goals 31 seconds apart trimmed the margin to four with 7:16 on the clock before Burns and James Cardillo scored twice in a 37-second span to make it 11-9 with 2:22 showing.
• Tyler Spano made it a one-goal game just 11 seconds into the fourth quarter but
Luke Barbera (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) finished a
Jack Dunleavy (New Providence, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) feed to push the lead back to two with 12:10 on the clock. Barroll made it 13-10 just 39 ticks later but the Generals scored twice in a seven-second stretch to return the margin to one with 6:32 to play. Dunleavy put the game away with his first tally of the game with 1:18 remaining.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg advances to the national quarterfinals for the first time since 2022.
• The Bullets finished with a 58-48 advantage in shots.
