CLEVELAND, Ohio – The final standings of the Learfield Directors' Cup standings for 2024-25 were released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) on Tuesday and Gettysburg finished 29th in the Division III standings.
The Bullets had 10 teams earn points over the course of the year, totaling 562.25 points – the most ever recorded by Gettysburg since the Directors' Cup was introduced in the 1995-96 season. The 29th-place standing among all Division III is the program's highest since placing 25th in 1997-98 with 200 points.
Gettysburg has the second highest finish of any Centennial Conference (CC) program behind runner-up Johns Hopkins (1,147 points). The Blue Jays had won the previous two Cup titles. It is the first time since 2002 that the Bullets have ranked second in the conference standings. It is just the second time in the last 25 years that a team other than Johns Hopkins has finished in the top 30 of the final standings.
The Orange and Blue had four teams place in the top 10 in their respective sports. Women's lacrosse led the way with a national semifinal appearance for 83 points while women's basketball and men's lacrosse both advanced to the national quarterfinals to garner 73 points each. The softball season ended in the super regional, earning 64 points. Men's golf finished just outside the top 10 at the national championship, placing tied for 11th to claim 65.25 points.
Volleyball (50 points), men's basketball (50), women's golf (45), women's cross country (31) and women's swimming (28) also earned points this year.
The Bullets vaulted from 46th place after the winter season with 232 points to 29th placed, buoyed by a spring that saw Gettysburg earn 330.25 points among five programs. Gettysburg was 70th with 81 points after the fall.
In total, 11 different programs appeared in the NCAA Division III championship in their respective sports. As a department, the Bullets won nearly 67 percent of all of its contests this season for the best winning percentage overall since the 1997-98 year. Women's basketball (28) and softball (41) both set program records for wins in a season. Men's and women's golf joined women's basketball in claiming CC titles. The golf teams swept the team and individual titles for the first time since 2019.
An institution can count up to 18 sports in the final Division III standings, four of which must be men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball and women's basketball. The next highest 14 sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
The Learfield Director's Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the NCAA Championships.
