THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg scored just 77 seconds into overtime to defeat Washington (Md.) 4-3 in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.
THE LEADERS

Jillian Somers (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) led the Bullets with two goals, including the game-winner.
FOR THE FOES
• MaryCate Anson led the Shorewomen with a goal and an assist.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Washington needed just 3 minutes, 40 seconds to take an early lead hen MaryCate Anson dribbled from the top of the arc off a penalty corner and fired it home for a 1-0 lead.
Margaret-Ann Graves (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) got the equalizer just 4:40 later, waiting on the post and putting a rebound in the back of the cage.
• In the 27th minute, Graves dribbled to the endline before sending the ball back up to
Jillian Somers, who rocketed a shot to the backboard to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.
• In the 35th minute, Gettysburg sent the ball into the circle.
Sabrina Post (Poquoson, Va./Hampton Roads Academy) tapped it to her left where
Lauren Rudick (Sparks Glencoe, Md./Roland Park Country School) sent the ball to the back post and
Cassie DeBlieck (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) finished it for a 3-1 lead. Just over six minutes, Tyler Rice was waiting on the post and made it a 3-2 game before Erin Houlihan had a similar goal four minutes later to tie the game.
• Early in the first overtime period, Post carried a ball down the sideline and centered it to Somers, who was fired it home for the game-winner.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Washington finished with a 12-10 edge in shots and 14-10 advantage in penalty corners.
