THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg dropped three close sets in a 3-0 loss to No. 11 Washington and Lee before bouncing back to defeat Mary Washington, 3-0.

THE LEADERS
Clare Farrell (Livingston, N.J./Academy of St. Elizabeth) led the Bullets, reaching double digits in kills in both matches. She had 10 knockdowns against Washington and Lee and 11 against Mary Washington. She finished the day with 21 kills against just one attack error in 45 swings to hit .444.

FOR THE FOES
• Grace Mitchener led the Generals with 15 kills and 12 digs.
• Avery Gallahue paced the Eagles with nine kills and hit .389 in the match.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Washington and Lee jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the opening match before an Alycen Radolovic (Willoughby, Ohio/Beaumont School) kill and two Generals errors gave Gettysburg a 4-3 edge. Neither team led by more than three points until, trailing 24-22, a blocking error and three straight Emily Scheellenberg aces gave Washington and Lee a 26-24 win.
• The second set was a continuation of the first set with neither team leading by more than three until a 5-1 run turned a 14-12 Generals edge into an 19-13 lead. Allison Young capped the run with an ace and W&L won the set, 25-19.
• Gettysburg jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the third set. Trailing 5-2, five errors gave the Generals an 8-5 edge. The lead gradually swelled to 17-11 before a 7-2 Bullet counter closed the margin to 19-18. After a service error pushed the lead back to two, two Erin Gonzalez (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) kills and a Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) ace gave Gettysburg a 21-20 edge. The Generals, however, scored five of the last seven points for a 25-23 win and the sweep.
• A Huegel ace helped the Bullets to an 8-2 lead in the first set against Mary Washington. The Eagles then tallied five of the next seven points to close to within 10-7. Holding a 14-11 advantage, a Huegel block sparked a 7-1 run that opened up a 21-12 lead en route to the 25-16 victory.
• Two Huegel blocks keyed a 5-0 start to the second set for Gettysburg. The Bullets extended the lead to 13-5 before five straight points from the Eagles made it 13-10. Gettysburg pushed the lead back out to 22-15 but a Natalie Brown kill helped spark a 6-0 burst that trimmed the margin to 22-21 but kills from Gonzalez and Ione Pedersen (Bigfork, Mont./Eagle Valley [Colo.]) around a Nala Shearer (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) ace closed out the 25-21 win.
• The third set was back and forth early kills from Gonzalez and Clare Farrell gave the Bullets the lead for good at 10-9. The Bullets led by as many as five until Mary Washington pulled back within 21-20. Two Radolovic kills, however, in the last four points wrapped up the sweep with a 25-20 victory.

THE INSIDE STORY
Kierra Fox (Phoenix, Ariz./Rancho Solano Prep School) led a trio of Bullets in double-digit digs with 15 against the Generals.
Erin Gonzalez and Alycen Radolovic added 10 kills each against the Eagles.
