THE LEADERS
•
Caleb Gillus (Falls Church, Va./Sidwell Friends School [D.C.]) established a career high with 26 points to lead the Bullets.
•

THE REST OF THE STORY
• After
Caleb Gillus and Jamie Murphy traded baskets in the opening minute,
Malachi Briscoe (California, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) drained a 3-pointer. A
Josh Herr (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) three-point play opened up a 13-6 lead with 14:25 on the clock. Ursinus, however, scored the game's next 12 points to take an 18-13 edge just three minutes later. Gillus was then fouled on a 3-point attempt and made all three free throws before canning a triple to put the hosts back in front 19-18 with 10:22 showing. Neither team could open up a lead larger than two until the Bears missed the back end of a 1-and-1 and Gillus raced upcourt and drained a triple before the horn for a 38-34 halftime lead.
• Briscoe added a second trey to open the second half before four points from Mo Toure and a Nick Nocito 3-pointer closed the margin to 41-40 with 17:02 on the clock. Points from four different players extended the Gettysburg lead back to nine nearly 90 seconds later. A
Nate Williams (Morganville, N.J./St. John Vianney) step-back 3-pointer made it a double-digit game for the first time at 52-41 with 14:39 to play. Behind a 10-2 spurt, the Bears got back to within three with 11:32 on the clock. Within two minutes, the hosts pushed the lead back out to nine and kept it between seven and 10 points. After two
Aidan Mess (Columbia, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) free throws made it a 75-64 game with 2:47 to play, Nocito got to the rim and cut the deficit to eight just nine seconds later. Gillus responded by hitting the second of two free throws but Toure drained a triple to cut the margin to six with 2:33 showing. Toure and Matthew Ford bookended a pair of Gillus makes from the charity stripe to make it a 77-73 game with 1:47 to play. Murphy made it a three-point game after hitting the second of two free throws 46 seconds later. After trading empty possessions, Zamloot hit the second of two free throws to make it a two-possession game with the shot clock off. The defense came up with another stop and Zamloot sealed the win with a 2-for-2 trip to the line in the final six seconds.
