Swarthmore won the first two sets by matching 25-16 scores as part of a 3-1 win over Gettysburg.
THE LEADERS

Kaitlyn Hedrich (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln Way) led the Bullets with 17 assists and two aces.

Ellen Manke (Madison, N.J./Morristown Beard School) posted 10 kills and hit .643 on the day.
FOR THE FOES
• Ella Tsai led a balanced attack for the Garnet with 16 kills.
• Kate Roberts recorded seven aces as part of a 15-ace day for Swarthmore.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After Ella Tsai and
Eliza Jauregui (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) traded kills for a early 2-all first set, two Nicole Kim aces keyed a 4-0 burst that opened up a 6-2 lead and Gettysburg got no closer the rest of the first of the first set. Back-to-back Kate Roberts aces made it 24-14 before Mailey Wang put away the 25-16 win.
• The second set was back-and-forth with neither team building a lead larger than two until a Kim ace made it 14-11. A Melissa Eyer ace made it 16-12 and started a 5-2 stretch that made it 20-14. Leading 21-16, kills from three different Garnet played keyed a 4-0 finish.
• A
Kaitlyn Hedrich ace capped a 5-1 start to the third set for the Bullets. The lead grew to 8-2 on back-to-back kills from
Emma Bradshaw (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) and
Ellen Manke. Trailing 9-3, the Garnet ripped off five straight to close to within 9-8.
Gianna Galli (Demarest, N.J./Northern Valley Demarest), Jauregui and
Erin Gonzalez (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) went back-to-back-to-back with kills to reopen a 12-8 lead. Back-to-back Gonzalez knockdowns made it 23-13 en route to a 25-15 win.

Kierra Fox (Phoenix, Ariz./Rancho Solano Prep School) ace and
Clare Farrell (Livingston, N.J./Academy of St. Elizabeth) kill staked Gettysburg to an early 2-0 lead in the fourth set but the Garnet tallied the next four. Holding an 11-8 lead, Roberts served 11 straight to make it 23-8 en route to a 25-12 win.
