Gettysburg travels to Wesleyan for opening weekend of NCAA tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Gettysburg will travel to Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., for the 2026 NCAA Division III men's basketball first and second rounds, beginning on Friday.

The Bullets (18-9) earned an automatic bid into the field of 64 with its fourth Centennial Conference (CC) title, defeating Johns Hopkins 51-47 on Sunday in Gettysburg. It was the first conference title for the Orange and Blue since 2009.

Gettysburg is making its seventh NCAA tournament appearance and second straight. The Bullets will take on New York University in Friday's first-round game at 3:45 p.m. The host Cardinals will play Lehman in the second game at 6:15 p.m. The winners will meet in Saturday's second round at 6:15 p.m.

This will be just the fifth all-time meeting between Gettysburg and NYU. The Violets (17-8) earned an at-large bid out of the UAA. The only time the two teams have meet since World War II was on Jan. 2, 20215 and NYU won, 60-44.

Wesleyan (21-6), ranked 16th in the latest D3hoops.com poll, fell to Trinity (Conn.) in the NESCAC championship 80-55 on Sunday while Lehman (21-6) claimed the CUNYAC title 101-56 over CCNY on Thursday.

Junior Ray Zamloot (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) leads Gettysburg in scoring at 11.8 points per game. He is also third on the team with 39 assists while adding a team-best 33 steals and 60 3-pointers. Freshman Caleb Gillus (Falls Church, Va./Sidwell Friends School [D.C.]) is also averaging double figures at 11.3 ppg. He is leading the team with 71 assists to go with 22 steals and 25 3-pointers.

Senior Aidan Mess (Columbia, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) leads the team in rebounding at 7.2 rebounds per game and blocked shots with 45. He is also averaging 9.0 points per game. Freshman Reece Craft (Downingtown, Pa./Devon Prep), who was named most valuable player of the conference tournament, is averaging 9.1 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game.
