THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked 18th in the latest D3baseball.com poll, scored three runs in the second inning to key a 5-2 game-one win before Mary Washington used a three-run fourth and held off a late comeback attempt to earn the split in the nightcap, 5-3.
THE LEADERS

Henry Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) led the Bullets with five hits on the day, going 3-for-3 in game one and 2-for-3 in game two.
FOR THE FOES
• Connor Hassan led the Eagles with four hits that included a three-hit game two.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener, William Tuttle blasted a one-out home run to right-center for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) led off the home second with a single before
Dominick Balsamo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) walked. A one-out walk to
Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) loaded the bases before
Brendan Laqui (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) doubled down the line for a 2-1 lead. After
Henry Smith's bunt single, a throwing error stretched the lead to 3-1.
• The teams traded runs in the sixth. Mary Washington's Collin Clarkson led off the top of the inning with a single before a two-out Ryan Henson single to the gap made it 3-2. With two outs in the bottom of the frame,
Brayden Casas (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) singled through the right side. Amirata and Laqui both singled to load the bases before Smith walked to force in Casas for a 4-2 lead.
• An Amirata double and Smith triple set the final score in the eighth.
• In game two, Oliver Marin led off the fourth with a double before a Clarkson single put two in scoring position. A bunt single from Connor Hassan scored the first run of the game Another bunt loaded the bases. A dropped fly ball led to two more runs and a 3-0 lead.
• With one out in the seventh, Smith tripled to the alley before scoring on a
Will Bercaw (Langhorne, Pa./The Pennington School) RBI groundout. A
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) walk, wild pitch and
Mike Coleman (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) double cut the deficit to 3-2.
• The Eagles scored one more each in the eighth and ninth, scoring in the eighth on an error and ninth on a Henson RBI single.
• Murphy and Coleman were both hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the ninth before Stellato walked to put the tying runs on base. A one-out Casas RBI groundout made it 5-3 but Noah Ezzie got another groundball to preserve the win.
