THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg scored five runs in the fifth inning and held on for a 5-4 win over Mount Union before falling to top-ranked Trine 9-2 in five innings in the final game of the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
THE LEADERS

Audrey Bergan (Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Calif./La Jolla Country Day School) had two hits in each game to lead the Bullets.

• Emily Denney had a two-run single to lead the Purple Raiders.
• Debbie Hill went 2-for-2 with four RBIs to lead the Thunder.

Abigail Gold (Apex, N.C./Apex) led off the top of the fifth inning with a walk before an error put runners at second and third. A
Zoe Brennan (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) bunt scored the first run of the game. With one out,
Renee Laczkowski (Erie, Colo./Erie) singled home
Lauren Bickler (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) for a 2-0 lead. An
Anika Pelekis (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) squeeze made it 3-0 before a walk and
Lily Mader (Las Vegas, Nev./Valley) single made it 4-0.
Abby Todd (Roebling, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) singled home pinch-runner
Siara Gonzalez (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) capped the five-run inning.
• In the bottom of the sixth, two walks around a Brooklyn Schlabach single loaded the bases. With two outs, Emily Dnney singled down the line to make it 5-2 before an Alli Goodwill single to right cut the deficit to 5-3. Back-to-back walks made it a one-run game with the bases loaded but a lineout preserved the lead and Mount Union stranded the tying run at first base in the bottom of the seventh.
• Trine led off the game with a Whitney Duell single and Keelin Wheaton double. A one-out sacrifice fly got the Thunder on the board. A walk and Emma Lee single made it 2-0 before Abbie Geib singled home a third run with two outs.

Audrey Bergan, Laczkowski and Pelekis recorded three straight singles to start the bottom of the inning and load the bases. With two outs, Todd singled home Bergan and Laczkowski to cut the deficit to 3-2.
• Five hits with two outs, including a two-run Hill home run made it 6-2 in the second.
• Two errors led to two more runs in the fourth before a Hill RBI double in the fifth set the final margin.
THE INSIDE STORY
• The Trine game was called in the sixth inning due to Trine's hard stop time of 1 p.m.
