THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and held off Franklin & Marshall for a 2-1 victory in the first game of the doubleheader. The Diplomats led game two 5-1 with one out in the top of the fourth inning before lightning halted the game without the ability to resume.
THE LEADERS
•
Lexi Waring (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) led the Bullets in the circle, going the distance while allowing just five hits and establishing a career high with 10 strikeouts.
•
Renee Laczkowski (Erie, Colo./Erie) provided the only offense she needed with a two-run double in the first.
FOR THE FOES
• Natalia Garza led the Diplomats with two hits and an RBI.
THE REST OF THE STORY
•
Jamie Shaw (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg) led off the bottom of the first with a single to center field.
Lauren Bickler (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) worked a walk to follow before both were able to score when
Renee Laczkowski roped a double to the wall in left for an early 2-0 lead.
• That lead held until the fifth inning. Abby Favazza drew a four-pitch walk to start the inning before a Morgan Risnychok pinch-hit single to left. A fly out advanced the runners before a Natalia Garza single to left scored Favazza to make it a 2-1 game.
THE INSIDE STORY
•
Jamie Shaw had the only two-hit game in the opener for the Bullets.
