THE REST OF THE STORY
•
Audrey Bergan led off the bottom of the first in game with an infield single before
Lauren Bickler (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) walked. A
Renee Laczkowski single to right scored Bergan before back-to-back groundouts plated Bickler for a 2-0 lead.
• Muhlenberg cut the deficit in half in the top of the third. Josie Hoffacker led off the frame with a bunt single before Sofia Gallahue singled through the right side to put runners at the corners. A Hailey Godin RBI groundout to the right side made it 2-1.
• A Laczkowski four-pitch walk and singles from
Anika Pelekis (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and
Emily Bakker (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) pushed the advantage back to two.
• With two outs in the sixth, Campisi reached on an infield single before scoring on a Peri Kahn triple.
• Ava Storlazzi walked on four pitches to start the seventh before stealing both second and third with one out. A Godin walk and stolen base put runners at second and third before Lillie Teague singled back up the middle to turn the 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 lead. A Campisi sacrifice fly stretched the lead to 5-3.
• In the bottom of the inning, Bergan walked with one out before a Bickler bunt single put runners at the corners. A wild pitch made it 5-4 before singles from Laczkowski and Pelekis tied the game at 5-all.
• The Mules got one run in the top of the eighth without a hit. A sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly plated Hoffacker from second.
• With
Abigail Gold (Apex, N.C./Apex) at second in the bottom of the frame, a
Zoe Brennan (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) sacrifice moved her to third before
Jamie Shaw (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg) reached on a fielder's choice back to the circle. She then stole second to put the winning run in scoring position and Bergan put a 3-2 pitch in the gap to score both runners with the game-winner.
• In game two, a Teague single, sacrifice and Kineta Bradley single up the middle gave Muhlenberg a 1-0 lead in the second.
• Bickler singled off the pitcher to lead off the home third before taking second on a wild pitch. A Lackowski single put runners at the corners before Pelekis doubled to tie the game. A one-out walk and Bakker sacrifice fly made it 2-1 before a Brennan hit up the middle stretched the advantage to two.
• A Godin bunt single, steal of second and another infield single put runners at the corners with one out in the fourth before a squeeze made it 3-2.
• Bergan led off the bottom of the inning with a line-drive double to center before scoring on a one-out Laczkowski single up the middle to extend the lead back to two.
• The Mules tied the game in the fifth on a two-out Godin single up the middle that scored Kahn and Storlazzi, who both singled earlier in the inning.
• The Bullets regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth as darkness was rolling in. Bickler drew a walk to start it before Laczkowski got her 100th hit on a ball back up the middle. An
Abby Todd (Roebling, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) scored two with one out.
• Bradley led off the seventh with a triple before a bunt single and stolen base put runners at second and third. After a walk loaded the bases, Gallahue dropped a single into shallow left to pull the visitors within one with one out. A two-run single from Godin through the right side gave Muhlenberg the 7-6 lead and Abigail Kim got a 1-2-3 bottom of the inning on just eight pitches to complete the comeback before darkness won out.
