Gettysburg vies for CC title starting Tuesday

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg will travel to Collegeville, Pa., for the first game of the 2026 Centennial Conference (CC) baseball championship tournament on Tuesday. Game time is 3 p.m.

In the five-team format, the Bullets (26-12, 9-9 CC) earned the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 Ursinus (22-15-1, 9-9 CC) in a single-elimination first-round game. The winner will advance to top-seeded Johns Hopkins (30-9, 13-5 CC) on Thursday for the first round of the of the double-elimination tournament. Second-seeded McDaniel (28-12, 11-7 CC) will host third-seeded Washington (Md.) (22-18, 10-8 CC) in the other game on Thursday. Both games will begin at 3 p.m. The four remaining teams will all travel to Baltimore for the remainder of the double-elimination tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Games being at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Tickets will be sold for each day of the CC tournament and will be available soon on the Centennial ticketing homepage. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students age 6 through high school and senior citizens. Children five and under as well as students and staff from conference institutions are free.

The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin at 16 regionals sites on May 15-17. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday, May 12.

The Bullets are seeking their first conference title. It is the eighth tournament appearance for Gettysburg and second straight. The Bullets also in search of their second NCAA tournament bid.

In the regular-season series between Gettysburg and Ursinus, the Bears won both games in Collegeville on Apr. 18, taking game one 7-3 before completing the sweep, 8-3.

Freshman Mike Coleman (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) leads the offense with a .370 batting average. He is second on the team with 51 hits, including 11 doubles, two triples and four home runs for a .565 slugging percentage. He has also scored 36 runs and driving in 35. Junior Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) has a team-high 59 hits and is hitting .360 on the season with 12 doubles and a team-high six home runs. He paces the squad with 456 RBIs to go with 43 runs scored. Junior Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) rounds out the trio of hitters with 50 or hits, recording 50 knocks with a team-high 14 doubles.

Alex Wilkie-Viscio (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) leads the pitching staff with a 4.14 earned-run average. He has 39 strikeouts and just nine walks in 58.2 innings pitched. He is 6-2 in 10 starts with one complete game. John Francesconi (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) is 3-2 on the mound with 32 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. He has a 4.70 ERA in 10 appearances that includes nine starts. Ethan Mitnick (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) has a 1.66 ERA out of the bullpen with a 1-0 record and five saves in 13 appearances. He has struck out 23 in 21.2 innings.
