THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked 13th in the latest IWLCA Div. III coaches' poll, opened up a 7-1 lead early in the second quarter and held off a second-half charge from No. 24 MIT to register a 13-9 win in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Div. III women's lacrosse championship tournament.
THE LEADERS

Maddie Passarello (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) led the Bullets with five goals, seven draw controls and three ground balls.

Julia Daly (McLean, Va./Langley) added another four goals and two assists.
FOR THE FOES
• Alexis Reinard led the Engineers with two goals and an assist.
• Ashley Thomas also had two markers and a helper.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After the teams traded turnovers in the opening minute,
Maddie Passarello opened the scoring with 13:10 on the clock, starting a five-goal Gettysburg run to begin the game. Two
Julia Daly goals just over four minutes apart stretched the lead to 3-0 with 7:18 showing. Two more Daly markers, including a free-position tally, in just 29 seconds extended the lead to 5-0 with 4:09 remaining in the opening stanza. Alexis Reinard got MIT on the board nearly a minute later to make it a 5-1 game after one.
• Passarello completed her hat trick with two goals in the first 6:12 of the second quarter to extend the lead to 7-1. Free-position goals from Annica Lam and Reinard nearly three minutes apart closed the deficit to 7-3 at the intermission.

Sarah Scollin (Orefield, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) stretched the lead to 8-3 just 69 seconds into the third. Passarello finished a
Riley d'Entremont (Radnor, Pa./Bryn Mawr) feed to extend the advantage to six with 3:38 on the clock before Lam and Nina Petulla each found the back of the net in the final 2:04 of the quarter to close the deficit to 9-5 entering the final period.
• Ashley Thomas converted an advantage goal with 12:28 on the clock to make it 9-6 before a Nina Petulla tally closed the margin to two with 10:50 showing.
Grace Battle (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) halted the 4-0 run, scoring with the advantage just over a minute later. Thomas needed just 80 seconds to respond with another advantage goal to return the margin to two. The back-and-forth continued with a Daly-to-
Nina Marra (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) goal with 7:58 on the clock. However, goals from Passarello and d'Entremont 18 seconds apart extended the lead to 13-8 with 5:01 to play and thwarted the comeback attempt. Jillian Butler set the final score with an advantage goal at the 3:16 mark.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg finished with a 40-24 advantage in shots.

Grace Battle added seven draw controls and a goal. As a team, the Bullets won 17 of 24 draw controls.

Camryn Epstein (Medford, Mass./Shawnee) led the defense with four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
