Gettysburg men’s golf team, three individuals honored for academic

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) released the 2026 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars on Monday and Gettysburg had three men's golfers recognized with the prestigious honor.

On Wednesday, the GCAA announced the PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Awards and Gettysburg was one of 155 programs nationwide and 28 in Division III to receive the Presidents Special Recognition for having an average team GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The three Bullets were among 261 Division III men's collegiate golfers from 95 programs selected to the team. To be eligible for nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 79.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Recent graduate Christian Deussing (Doylestown, Pa./Hun School of Princeton [N.J.]) joined rising seniors Daniel Casanta (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) and Reece Scott (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) as those honored for their success in the classroom.

Deussing earned the honor for the third straight year while Casanta claimed his second accolade.

Deussing posted a 78.1 stroke average over 13 rounds while Casanta led the team with a 73.8 stroke average over 24 rounds played. Scott played 14 rounds and posted a 77.6 stroke average.
