Gettysburg put away the second set after dropping the opening set and carried that second-set momentum to a 3-1 win over Mary Washington.
THE LEADERS

Erin Gonzalez (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) led the Bullets with 14 kills, eight digs and two blocks while hitting .375 in the match.

Clare Farrell (Livingston, N.J./Academy of Saint Elizabeth) added 12 kills and hit .310.

• Jocelyn Fang led the Eagles with 12 kills and eight digs.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After a back-and-forth start to the match that featured 10 ties and four lead changes, the opening set was tied at 16-all after an
Erin Gonzalez ace and
Clare Farrell kill. Kills from three different Mary Washington players opened up a 19-16 lead and start an 8-1 run. Farrell and
Emma Bradshaw (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) staved off set point before Alice Holoubek put away a 25-20 win.
• Back-to-back Gonzalez capped a 4-0 Gettysburg start to the second set. The Eagles slowly clawed back into the set, tying it at 18-all on a Jocelyn Fang kill. The teams traded points until Bradshaw and Gonzalez went back-to-back to reach set point. Holoubek momentarily staved it off before
Kaitlyn Hedrich (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln Way) capped the 25-23 win to tie the match at 1-all.
• The third set was also back-and-forth until – tied at 10-all – a Gonzalez kill started a 7-2 run to open up a 17-12 lead. An
Ellen Manke (Madison, N.J./Morristown Beard School) ace capped another 6-0 burst that pushed the advantage to 22-14 en route to a 25-17 victory.
• Two
Kierra Fox (Phoenix, Md./Rancho Solano Prep School) aces started the fourth set and the Bullets never trailed. A quick kill from
Gianna Galli (Demarest, N.J./Northern Valley Demarest) made it 14-7 before she joined Gonzalez for a block to push the lead to eight. A
Nala Shearer (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) ace extended the lead to 19-9 en route to a 25-16 victory.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg put together a balanced defensive effort with six players recording six or more digs led by
Nala Shearer's nine. Shearer also had three aces and eight assists.

Gianna Galli chipped in five total blocks while
Ellen Manke and
Emma Bradshaw had three each.
