LANCASTER, Pa. – Anna Kavountzis (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North), a junior on the Gettysburg women's soccer team, has been named Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 1-6.

It is the first time she has claimed the conference's weekly honor.

Kavountzis backstopped the Bullets (0-0-1) in a scoreless draw with No. 20 Misericordia on Friday. The junior keeper made eight saves, including stonewalling a penalty kick in the 54th minute.

Gettysburg returns to action at Shenandoah on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
