Chris Nevolo

Former Bullet point guard Chris Nevolo ’09, who helped guide the Orange & Blue to one of the most successful eras in program history, enters his second season as an assistant men's basketball coach at his alma mater in 2013-14.

Before returning to his alma mater, Nevolo worked for three years as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Drew University under Head Coach Darryl Keckler, a former assistant at Gettysburg. He helped the Rangers to a breakthrough season in 2010-11, when Drew earned the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year award. Drew finished the season 14-12, doubled its win total from the previous campaign, earned the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference tournament, and hosted the first-ever playoff game in program history.

Nevolo also served as the junior varsity head coach in 2011-12. In addition, he helped Drew experience a 100 percent graduation rate of its players and was instrumental in recruiting a student-athlete who captured first-team all-conference, first-team all-region, and preseason All-America honors.

As a Bullet, Nevolo played in 94 games and made 65 starts for his career in which Gettysburg went 71-37, finishing with the most wins over any four-year stretch in program history. During his junior campaign in 2007-08, he started all 29 games and was second on the team with 84 assists (2.9 apg), helping the Bullets finish 24-5 to set a program record for victories. The team also advanced to the Centennial Conference championship game and earned an at-large-berth in the NCAA Division III tournament, where it captured the first two NCAA victories in program history to reach the Sweet 16. Nevolo shot 92.5 percent (49-53) at the free-throw line for the year.

The following season, Nevolo served as a team captain and started all 27 games as the Bullets won their third Centennial Conference title in program history and earned an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. He contributed to the team’s victory at Franklin & Marshall College in the conference championship game with a pair of key baskets in the closing minutes. For the season, he led the team with 78 assists (2.9 apg) and shot 89.5 percent (34-38) at the charity stripe.

Nevolo started the final 65 games of his career and finished with 356 points, 229 assists, 199 rebounds, and 73 steals while shooting 90.5 percent (124-137) at the foul line. He ranks seventh in school history in career assists.
