Dean Gamber enters his second season as assistant men’s basketball coach at Gettysburg College in 2015-16.
Gamber came to Gettysburg after a 17-year coaching stint at York (Pa.) College, where served as an assistant under his father, Jeff Gamber. His responsibilities included recruiting and assisting in the day-to-day operations of the program. In 2004-05, he helped lead the Spartans to a school-record 28 wins and berth in the NCAA Division III Final Four. Gamber also helped coach two players who received Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the Year and NABC All-America honors.
As a student-athlete at York, Gamber competed as a guard for the Spartan men’s basketball team, and he served as one of the co-captains on the 1994-95 squad that won 20 games and went to the NCAA tournament. His teams also played in three CAC championship games and won two CAC regular season championships, and he was also a member of the school’s first NCAA Tournament team.
