Box Score

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior Zach Pucci (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) scored three goals and handed out one assist while reaching the career 100-point plateau, and No. 18 Gettysburg recorded its 400th win in program history, defeating Muhlenberg College 7-3 in Centennial Conference men's lacrosse action Saturday evening.

Gettysburg (4-3, 1-1 CC), which shut out Muhlenberg in the second half, won its first Centennial Conference and road game of the season while playing under the lights for just the second time in the last two years. The Bullets out-shot Muhlenberg (0-5, 0-2 CC) 34-14 but Mike Horowitz kept the Mules in it, making 13 saves.

Junior Josh Reichert (Englewood, Colo./Kent School) added a pair of goals for Gettysburg while senior Zach Furshman (Miami, Fla./Kent School [Conn.]) saved five shots.

Muhlenberg led just once on the evening, when Corey Aferiat scored with 9:33 left in the opening quarter to make it 1-0. But Pucci tied it up with 7:14 left in the period before Reichert delivered a man-up goal 48 seconds later to put the Bullets on top.

Ari Jacobson tied it up with a man-down goal at the 5:38 mark of the opening quarter, but Pucci struck again with 1:18 on the clock, putting Gettysburg on top (3-2) to stay.

Neither team scored for the opening 14:47 of the second quarter, but the two sides traded tallies in the final 13 seconds. Junior Patrick Koehl (Shamong, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep [Pa.]) made it a 4-2 game with 13 ticks showing, but Nick Fletcher answered for Muhlenberg, scoring with four seconds left to keep it a one-goal game at the half. However, that would end up being the Mules final tally of the evening.

Pucci accomplished his hat trick 4:10 into the second half, firing in an unassisted goal to make it 5-3. That's how the scoreboard read at the end of the third quarter, before junior Kyle McGrath (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) got into the act, scoring his first goal in three games with 10:00 left in the game. Reichert applied the finishing touches when he scored off a Pucci assist with 2:23 left as Pucci picked up his 100th point.

Gettysburg returns home on Wednesday, when it hosts Dickinson College at 3:30 p.m. in another Centennial Conference affair.
