Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Muhlenberg College scored the game-winning run in its final at bat in the opener and then held Gettysburg to just four hits to pull off a sweep in Centennial Conference baseball action on Sunday.

Gettysburg (9-20, 3-11 CC) was unable to hold onto a 4-2 lead in the opening game as Muhlenberg (10-22-1, 7-7 CC) picked up the game-tying run in the sixth and the go-ahead run in the seventh for a 5-4 win. The Mules pitching staff was on target in the nightcap, limiting the visitors to just four hits as part of a 10-0 victory.

Muhlenberg tallied the day's first two runs in its first at bat via a fielder's choice and throwing error on Gettysburg. The Bullets bounced back in the following inning by taking advantage of a pair of Mule miscues in the field to bring across four runs. Only one of the runs came courtesy of a base hit as Patrick O'Grady brought home the runner with a knock to center field.

The hosts pulled to 4-3 with a run in the third before tying the game in the sixth on a pinch-hit single. Muhlenberg capped the comeback by putting a pair of runners aboard in the seventh and then picking up the game-winning scoring single from Joseph DiCecilia.

Senior Matt Karis took the loss after giving up five runs (three earned) on seven hits and four walks, while striking out four.

The Mules carried the momentum into the nightcap with single runs in the first and fourth innings before exploding for eight in the fifth and sixth innings. Gettysburg had no answer at the plate, receiving singles from three starters and a pinch-hit single from Zach Parsons in the eighth.

Muhlenberg tagged starter John Donovan and reliever Rob Stalzer for a combined 10 runs on 10 hits. Freshman Chris Yoda and sophomore Will Patterson pitched well in relief for Gettysburg, each striking out two batters in an inning of work.

Freshman Nate Simon paced Gettysburg with three hits in seven trips to the plate over the two games. Freshman Tommy Lenoir scored a pair of hits on the day.

Gettysburg returns to the friendly confines of Bobby Jones Field for its next contest against McDaniel College on Wednesday, April 20, at 3:30 p.m.
