Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Henry Tesar put up a career-high five points and sophomore Nick Avedisian won 17 face-offs as 20th-ranked Gettysburg knocked down Washington 16-6 at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium on Sunday.

Gettysburg's (8-5, 4-2 CC) 10-goal win was its largest in the all-time series against Washington (4-7, 2-5 CC) since a 21-6 decision in 1995. The team was hitting on all cylinders as Tesar paced the attack with three goals and two helpers and Avedisian led the Bullets' dominating 19-7 edge in face-offs. Seniors Chris Cahill and #J.C. Ward# and junior Pat Sartory each posted a trio of scores with Sartory and Ward each adding assists.

Gettysburg set the tone early as Avedisian won all but one face-off in the first half. Ward and Sartory staked the hosts to a 2-0 lead before Washington put one on the board at 6:34 of the first quarter.

Ward scored after the next face-off win, kicking off a four-goal run. Sartory and Tesar capped the spurt by scoring just 16 seconds apart to start the second quarter. Cahill gave the Bullets an 8-2 edge heading into the break with back-to-back blasts past Washington's keeper.

The Shoremen had no answer for Gettysburg's attack as another four-goal run capped by a man-up goal by senior Danno Lynch set the score at 12-3 at the end of three quarters. Tesar wrapped up his first collegiate hat trick with his team's final goal off a feed from sophomore Evan Thomas at 7:02 of the fourth period.

Lynch finished with a pair of goals and freshman Martin Manilla added one goal and two assists. In addition to his face-off wins, Avedisian corralled a season-high nine ground balls and sophomore Ryan Fumai added five pick-ups.

Gettysburg sophomore goalkeeper #J.T. McCook# made a trio of saves and freshman Jon Maddalone made one stop in the final 3:26.

Hunter Nowiski led Washington with a pair of goals and Peter Stewart made 11 saves in goal.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, April 20, with a road trip to Franklin & Marshall College. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
