Box Score

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Craig Heckman and freshman Noah Sheetz-Ziegel scored goals in the final 10 minutes to lift the Gettysburg College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory at Haverford College on Saturday.

Gettysburg (5-7-1, 1-4-1 CC) had not found the back of the net in the final 10 minutes of any contest this season prior to Saturday's affair at Haverford (8-5, 4-2 CC). Heckman changed the trend with his first tally of the season at 80:08 to knot the contest at 1-1.

The Bullets held the Fords, ranked seventh in the Mid-Atlantic Region, in check on the other end of the field, blocking the host's only shot attempt in the final minutes and returning to the attack. Junior Brooks Taylor took the first stab at breaking up the draw, but his attempt was thwarted by Haverford goalie Andriy Mshanetskyy at 86:28.

Just one minute later, the visitors tallied the game-winning score as senior Dan McNamara found Sheetz-Ziegel at 87:46.

Gettysburg and Haverford played a scoreless opening half despite the host's putting four shots on goal. Junior Connor Darrell stopped each attempt, including three over a five-minute span midway through the period.

Darrell picked up another save to start the final period before Haverford cracked the scoring column in the 56th minute. Adam Morollo picked up the goal off an assist by Brady Seitz.

Darrell would keep the Fords off the board for the remainder of the contest, including saving back-to-back attempts by Morollo in the 65th minute. He notched his eighth and final save in the 80th minute just before Heckman's score.

Haverford finished with an 18-11 lead in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Gettysburg visits Marymount University for a non-conference affair on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.
