GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg outscored Muhlenberg 12-0 in the first half and the Bullets posted a season-high scoring output with a 13-5 victory in a Centennial Conference men's lacrosse game played through a steady, soaking rain at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Gettysburg (4-3, 2-0 CC) received a balanced scoring effort, with eight different Bullets scoring at least one goal. Each of the team's first eight tallies was scored by a different player.

Sophomore Martin Manilla continued his torrid start for the Bullets, scoring three goals and recording his sixth hat trick in seven games. Classmate Henry Tesar contributed two goals and one assist while senior Caldwell Rohrbach and junior Ryan Fumai posting two goals apiece. Seniors Pat Sartory and Matt McMurray added a goal and an assist apiece.

Making his second straight start, sophomore Jon Maddalone made 13 saves in goal for Gettysburg to earn his second win in a row. Sophomore Wes Lincoln won 10-of-16 face-offs and picked up seven ground balls for Gettysburg.

Corey Aferiat and Casey Gill notched one goal and one assist apiece for Muhlenberg (2-7, 0-3 CC), which lost its sixth straight.

Gettysburg outshot Muhlenbeg 35-25 and owned a 35-19 advantage in ground balls.

The game included 14 penalties totaling 13 minutes.

After a quiet opening five minutes, the Bullets erupted with three goals in a 1:22 span, with junior Bobby DeWees, McMurray, and sophomore Austin Dodson supplying the offense.

Fumai, Manilla, Sartory, and Tesar all scored over the final 4:35 of the first quarter as the Bullets extended their lead to 7-0. Another 3-0 spurt pushed Gettysburg's advantage into double digits, as Rohrbach, Fumai, and Manilla (man-up) scored in less than three minutes early in the second quarter, prompting a goalie change. Zack Gunzburg replaced Adam Schlauch between the pipes, but the Bullets struck two more times before the break, with Rohrbach (man-up) and Tesar closing the first-half scoring to give the hosts their 12-0 lead.

Muhlenberg outscored the Bullets 5-0 in the third quarter to pull to with seven but was shut out in the fourth period. With 12:32 left in the game Manilla posted his 21st goal of the season – two more than his total from all of last year – to set the final score.

Schlauch finished with four saves while Gunzburg stopped two shots.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, when it visits Widener University at 7 p.m. in a non-conference tilt and its only night contest of the regular season.
