SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Sophomore
Robby Maddux (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) piled up three goals and a career-high three assists and the Gettysburg College men's lacrosse team found its way back into the winning column with a 12-6 Centennial Conference victory at Swarthmore College Saturday afternoon.
The Bullets (6-4, 2-1 CC), who picked up their first win in their last three outings, never trailed after scoring the game's first three goals and led 6-1 at halftime.
Maddux posted his fifth hat trick of the season and scored three straight goals for Gettysburg spanning the first and second quarters.

Martin Manilla (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) tied a career-high with four goals and handed out one assist for the Bullets while senior
Evan Thomas (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) added two goals and one assist. Senior
J.T. McCook (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) made six saves while senior
Matt Canter (Potomac, Md./Thomas S. Wootton) notched six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Jonathan Cohen made nine saves for the Garnet (3-6, 1-2 CC).

Bobby DeWees (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) opened the scoring 2:31 into the contest before sophomore
Jimmy Morris (Waccabuc, N.Y./John Jay) potted his first collegiate two and a half minutes later. Manilla then struck with 5:56 on the first-quarter clock to complete the Bullets game-opening spurt.
After Braeden DeWan put Swarthmore on the scoreboard, Maddux reeled off a pair of tallies, striking with 13 seconds to go in the first quarter and again in a man-up situation with 13:15 left in the opening half to make it 5-1. Thomas completed the first-half scoring when he converted a Maddux dish with 2:31 showing in the stanza, giving the Bullets their four-goal lead at the break.
Andrew Preiser scored the first goal of the second half for the Garnet, but Gettysburg answered with a 5-1 run, starting with a goal from senior long-stick midfielder
Ian Casella (Washington, Mass./Avon Olds Farms [Conn.]) on the ensuing face-off. Manilla connected on back-to-back tallies before Thomas closed the third-quarter scoring with 1:14 left to make it 10-3.
Freshman
Jameson Smith (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) capped the run when he scored with 13:10 remaining as Gettysburg's lead ballooned to eight. The Garnet answered with a quick three-goal strike over a 2:16 span to make it 11-6 with 8:03 left before Manilla set the final score with his first collegiate goal with 1:18 to go.
Gettysburg picks up its schedule on Wednesday when it hosts second-ranked Dickinson College at 4 p.m. in another Centennial Conference showdown.
