LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg College outscored Gettysburg 12-0 spanning all four quarters and the 11th-ranked Hornets topped the 16th-ranked Bullets 12-6 in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Saturday afternoon.

Gettysburg (2-2), playing its second nationally-ranked team in as many games, scored the game's first two goals before Lynchburg (2-2) made its run. The Hornets took a 3-2 lead by the end of the first quarter before tacking on three more goals in the second period to assume a 6-2 halftime advantage. The hosts then broke it open in the third quarter, piling on six more unanswered goals to make it 12-2 heading into the final stanza.

The Bullets scored four times in the final six minutes, with three coming in the last 1:32, to set the final score.

Junior Robby Maddux (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) scored two goals for Gettysburg while senior Martin Manilla (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) added one goal and three assists. Sophomore Jameson Smith (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) contributed one goal and one assist.

Defensively, freshman long-stick midfielder Chris Palladino (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) posted three caused turnovers and four ground balls while senior Jon Maddalone (Carolina Beach, N.C./Choate Rosemary Hall [Conn.]) finished with eight saves. Freshman Kyle Hewett (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) went 10-for-20 on face-offs and picked up six ground balls.

Todd Galvin and Campbell Armstrong scored two goals apiece for Lynchburg, which had seven different players find the back of the net. Aaron Murphy added one goal and three assists while Andrew Fawkes made three 12 saves and allowed only three goals over 57:47 of action.

The Bullets scored the game's first two goals over the opening 6:50. Junior Bijan Firouzan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) converted a feed from Manilla 3:25 into the game before Maddux struck off a dish from Smith to make it 2-0 before the Hornets embarked on their run, which lasted 45:31.

Manilla snapped the run with an unassisted goal at the 5:59 mark of the fourth quarter, then assisted on man-up goal by Maddux with 1:32 remaining and a tally from Smith with 39 ticks showing. Hewett won the ensuing face-off and quickly struck for his first collegiate goal.

Gettysburg plays its third-straight nationally-ranked opponent when it visits sixth-ranked Cabrini College in another non-conference outing on Wednesday.
