Melissa Seidner (Hamilton, N.J./Peddie School) nearly put the Bullets on top eight minutes into the match when she fired a shot from the top of the box that appeared to be headed for the net. But starting goalie Maureen Ciccosanti made a tremendous diving stop to her right.
Less than two minutes later, Seidner found herself with the ball again and chipped a shot from the left wing. Ciccosanti went low to make the stop, but the ball deflected out to Schapiro on the right side. Schapiro booted a shot high into the net for her third goal of the season, making it 1-0 in favor of the Bullets with 35:31 on the first-half clock.
The Bullets held a 6-1 shot advantage in the first half.
Misericordia outshot Gettysburg 3-2 in the second half and pulled even in the 68th minute, when Kylen Smith sent a long cross from the left wing. The ball deflected off the crossbar but Alex Gallagher knocked in the loose ball on the right post for her eighth goal of the year.
Gray kept the match tied with an impressive save in the 83rd minute, punching away a tipped cross in the center of the box.
The Cougars outshot the Bullets 4-3 in the two overtime periods. However, Gray made one save in the first OT while Alyssa Pojero, who replaced Ciccosanti to start the second half, turned aside three shots over the two bonus sessions.
Gettysburg finished with an 11-8 shot advantage for the match. Ciccosanti made two saves while Pojero registered four stops.
The Bullets return to action on Saturday, when it visits 20th-ranked Swarthmore College at 5 p.m.
