Box Score  GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The second-ranked Gettysburg College men's lacrosse team opened the NCAA Division III tournament by setting or tying four school records, running past Catholic University 19-3 in the first round at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium on Wednesday.

The Bullets (18-0), who pushed their school-record winning streak to 18, broke the school record for wins in a season and tied the program record for goals in an NCAA playoff game initially set in a 19-6 first-round win over Widener University in 2000.

On the same day that he was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year, senior Robby Maddux (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) poured in six goals and one assist. He tied the team record for goals in an NCAA tournament game that was shared by five others and last achieved by Ric Bremer '02 in a 16-5 first-round win over Stevens Tech in 2002. Maddux also moved into a tie with Jake Van Nostrand '04 for third in school history with 219 career points.

The final record was set by freshman Tim Brady (Charlotte, N.C./Providence), who made eight saves over 49 minutes to earn the victory, giving him a school-record 18 goalie wins. He surpassed the former mark that was achieved by Pat Vaughan '07 in 2006 and Tim McGinnis '03 in 2002.

Senior Brendan Morris (Waccabuc, N.Y./John Jay) added a career-high four goals and one assist for the Bullets, who will move on to the second round and host 13th-ranked Ursinus College, an 8-7 first-round winner over 16th-ranked Cabrini College. The game, which will be played on Saturday at a time to be announced, will be a rematch of this past Saturday's Centennial Conference championship game.

Also turning in big offensive performances were senior Bijan Firouzan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), who scored three goals and handed out one assist; senior Jimmy Morris (Waccubuc, N.Y./John Jay), who notched two goals and one assist;, and junior Paul Werner (Westfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep), who contributed one goal and two assists.

Sophomore long-stick midfielder Chris Palladino (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) picked up five ground balls to pace the defense, which held an opponent to five goals or less for the second time in the last three games. Senior defenseman Ben Armellini (New Canaan, Conn./Kent School) registered three caused turnovers.

Kevin Carillo made nine saves for Catholic (11-6), which played without starting goalie Harrison Holak due to illness. Matt Brennan won 16-of-26 face-offs for the Cardinals, who were making their NCAA tournament debut.
