GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior
Patrick Santini (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) scored on a diving header in the 70th minute, but Centennial Conference (CC) foe Washington College answered late in regulation and the Gettysburg College men's soccer team eventually walked away with a 1-1 tie on Senior Night at Clark Field Saturday evening.

The Bullets (8-3-3, 3-2-2 CC) now find themselves in fifth place in the conference standings heading into their final two games of the regular season. The top-five teams qualify for the CC postseason tournament.

Gettysburg finished the regular season 5-0-3 at Clark Field, going undefeated at home for the first time since 1999.

The Bullets finished with advantages in shots (14-11) and corner kicks (10-3). The physical match featured a combined 32 fouls (20 on Washington, 12 on Gettysburg) and four yellow cards (two on each team).

Freshman
Thomas Keane (Potomac, Md./Gonzaga College) made two saves in goal for Gettysburg while Josh Samuels stopped one shot for the Shoremen (8-5-2, 3-2-2 CC), which holds third place in the conference standings.

Washington outshot the Bullets 6-3 in the opening half. The Shoremen had the only shot on goal in the period when Keane knocked down a blast from point-blank range following a corner in the 21st minute.

The Bullets were the aggressors early in the second half, outshooting Washington 4-2 over the opening 25 minutes before Santini found paydirt. Racing down the middle of the field, he went airborne to head home a perfect cross from junior
Justin Wigley (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) from deep in the right wing.

Samuels made his lone save a big one, diving to turn aside a runner from Smith in the 86th minute.

Dimitri Kaliakin initiated Washington's goal, blasting a shot off the right post. With the goalie on the ground, Brian Graham buried the rebound with what held up as the game-tying goal.

Gettysburg held the upper hand in the two overtime sessions, outshooting the Shoremen 4-0. However, the Bullets managed just one shot on goal, when the Washington back row cleared a one-timer from Santini following a corner early in the second OT.

The Bullets pick up their schedule on Wednesday, when they visit third-ranked Franklin & Marshall College at 4 p.m.
