Jameson Smith (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) scored his 100th career goal as the 10th-ranked Gettysburg College men's lacrosse team won 12-4 at Haverford College in its Centennial Conference (CC) opener Saturday afternoon.

Gray scored five of Gettysburg's first nine goals, staking the Bullets (5-2, 1-0 CC) to a 9-1 lead early in the third quarter. He is the second freshman this season to score five goals in a game, joining
Tommy Heller (Livington, N.J./Livingston), who achieved the feat in a 13-9 victory at then-No. 13 Lynchburg College on March 5.

Smith scored twice to become just the 16th player in program history to reach 100 goals. He struck for both of his tallies in the second half, hitting his milestone with 11:52 remaining in the game.

Senior
Paul Werner (Westfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) added three goals and one assist for Gettysburg, which won its conference opener for the seventh year in a row, while classmate
Mike Distler (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) contributed two goals and three assists.

Sophomore
Geoff Fulgione (North Andover, Mass./Brooks School) had a solid day at the face-off X for the Bullets, finishing 13-for-19 with five ground balls. Junior long-stick midfielder
Chris Palladino (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) helped power the defense with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Sophomore
Tim Brady (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) started in goal for the Bullets and made five saves over the first three quarters while allowing just three goals. Senior
Jake Adoni (Fort Washington, Pa./Germantown Academy) played the fourth quarter, yielding one goal while making one save.

Zach Cole scored two goals for Haverford (4-4, 0-1 CC) while Eric Caliendo turned aside nine shots between the pipes.

The Bullets outshot the Fords 36-16 for the game and never trailed, scoring the first seven goals. The Orange and Blue jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, which included two goals from Werner and three from Gray. Â

Distler scored the final goal in the opening the quarter before converting again with 12:04 showing in the period to make it a 7-0 game. That's how the score would remain until Cole put the Fords on the scoreboard with 3:16 remaining in the period, and it would turn out to be the final goal of the half.

Gettysburg took a commanding 10-1 lead after opening the second half on a 3-0 run, which started with back-to-back goals from Gray before Smith got into the act with a man-up tally with 10:46 left.

Haverford stopped the bleeding with a pair of goals, but Werner responded for the Bullets, striking with 55 ticks showing to make it an 11-3 game heading into the fourth quarter.

Smith's milestone goal completed Gettysburg's scoring for the day before Stephen DeLeo set the final score when he scored with 2:54 left for Haverford.

The Bullets pick up their schedule next Saturday, when they host Muhlenberg College at 3 p.m. in another Centennial Conference tilt.
