Box Score YORK, Pa. – York (Pa.) College outscored Gettysburg 5-2 in the second half and the 11th-ranked Spartans edged the fifth-ranked Bullets 9-7 in non-conference men's lacrosse matchup Wednesday afternoon.

Gettysburg (2-2), playing its third-straight nationally-ranked opponent, led 5-4 at halftime but was held to a pair of tallies in the second half versus a York defense that was allowing just 3.5 goals per game entering the contest.     Â

It was just the second-ever meeting between the two schools after the Bullets claimed a 12-6 decision last season. The extremely tight contest featured five ties and five lead changes, and neither side led by more than two goals for the game.

Tim Brady (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) made a season-high 15 saves for the Bullets, who held York to its lowest scoring output since its season opener, while junior long-stick midfielder
Chris Palladino (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) added six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Freshman
Tommy Heller (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) scored two goals to pace Gettysburg offensively.

Caleb Abney also made 15 stops in net for the undefeated Spartans (5-0) while Andrew Gamble scored a pair of goals.

Blake Gray (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh School) scored the game's opening goal with 10:28 left in the opening quarter. Gamble pulled the Spartans even with 6:02 on the clock and it was a 1-1 game at the end of the period.

Austin Glab handed the Spartans their first lead with 11:32 remaining in the second quarter, but Heller was quick to strike back. The reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week converted twice over a 46-second span to give the Orange and Blue a 3-2 lead with 10:35 to go in the half.

York went back in front with a pair of goals, but Gettysburg retaliated with two tallies of their own to assume a 5-4 halftime advantage. Senior
Paul Werner (Westfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) scored with 5:38 on the clock before junior
Reed Barbe (Greenwich, Conn./Suffield Academy) found the back of the net with 1:45 showing.

The Spartans scored a pair of early second-half goals to go ahead 6-5, and the hosts would not trail for the rest of the afternoon. Junior
Ivan Morris (Houston, Texas/Houston Christian) pulled Gettysburg even at the 2:34 mark with his first collegiate goal, but York took the lead for good with two goals inside the final two minutes of the quarter to head into the final stanza leading 8-6.

Jameson Smith (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) to make it a one-goal game with 6:31 left, but Dillon Hannah provided a big insurance tally for the Spartans with 1:22 remaining.

Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday, when it hosts Eastern University at 1 p.m. in another non-conference outing.
