SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Seniors
Katie Cavanaugh (East Rockaway, N.Y./Kellenberg) and
Katie McCoubrie (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) each won an event to lead a small contingent for the Gettysburg College track and field teams at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet on Monday.

Cavanaugh clocked a winning time of 14.61 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing six-tenths of a second faster than her nearest competitor. Her victory was the 16th of her career in the event, and her 10th in the last two years alone.

McCoubrie cleared 36-11 3/4 in the triple jump, winning by nearly eight inches. It was her eighth outdoor victory in the event over the last two years.

Also competing for the women's team were sophomore
Sarah Congdon (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional), who placed eighth among 17 competitors in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.65), and classmate
Mikaela Collins (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan), who came in fourth in a field of nine in the discus (107-9). Both recorded the second-best marks of their career.

Senior Andre Hinds (Hopkins, Minn./Blake School) was the lone Bullet in action for the men's team, placing second among 14 athletes in the discus (151-4).

Cavanaugh, McCoubrie, and Hinds are likely to be chosen to compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, which will be held May 26-28 at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Cavanaugh (100-hurdles) and Hinds (discus) are currently ranked fourth while McCoubrie (triple jump) is 16th; the field will be announced on Saturday.
