LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall used a 5-0 run to close the first half and a 3-0 spurt midway through the second half to upset 13th-ranked Gettysburg 11-9 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, Gettysburg (5-4, 1-1 CC) saw its 22-game winning streak versus Centennial Conference opponents and its 18-game Centennial Conference regular-season winning streak come to an end. The team's last loss versus a conference opponent was on April 30, 2014 at Washington College in the CC semifinals, and its last regular-season conference loss was April 23, 2014 versus Franklin & Marshall.

Sophomores
Will DeMartin (Summit, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) and
Jack Harvey (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) posted two goals and one assist apiece for the Bullets, who outshot F&M 40-29. Freshman
Brian Kolen (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) also scored two goals.

Junior
Geoff Fulgione (North Andover, Mass./Brooks School) registered a big day on face-offs, finishing 14-for-19. Freshman defenseman
Mitch Wykoff (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlow) notched four ground balls and one caused turnover while junior
Tim Brady (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) made nine saves.

Kevin Mollihan led the Diplomats (6-2, 2-0 CC) with three goals while Sean Rogers posted two goals and two assists. Scott Hatched made 12 saves for F&M.

Gettysburg jumped to a 2-0 first-quarter lead on goals from senior
Sean Fumai (Weston, Conn./Weston) and Harvey. Rogers put F&M on the scoreboard with 2:27 on the clock, but Kolen responded for the Bullets with 1:10 remaining. However, the Diplomats would strike twice inside the final 15 seconds of the period on goals from Ronan Garcia and Mike Rama, making it a 3-3 game at the end the opening quarter.

Franklin & Marshall continued its run in the second quarter, when it outscored the Bullets 3-0 to open up a 6-3 halftime advantage. Tucker McBride, Rama, and Mollihan all scored for the Diplomats, who would not trail the rest of the way.

Gettysburg climbed right back into it at the start of the second half, when Harvey and sophomore
Tommy Heller (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) scored to draw to within one. George Briggs answered for F&M with 6:15 on the third-quarter clock to make it 7-5, but DeMartin and Kolen struck for back-to-back tallies as the Bullets pulled even with 4:22 showing. But that's when the hosts put together their late 3-0 surge, with Rice scoring with 3:44 left in the quarter before Mollihan netted consecutive goals to go up 10-7 with 10:26 remaining in the contest.

The Bullets refused to go away, however, and sophomore
Blake Gray (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh School) scored with 10:01 left. But Rogers scored a big insurance goal with 1:38 to go, putting the Dips up 11-8 before DeMartin set the final score with a goal at the 1:09 mark.

The Bullets return to Centennial Conference play on Sunday, when they visit Muhlenberg at 2 p.m.
