GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Seniors
Justin Davidov (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining),
Joey DeCristofaro (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown),
Andrew Major (St. Davids, Pa./Radnor), and
Brad Walker (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) have been named captains for the 2017 football season.
Davidov is coming off a breakout season at quarterback. He managed to pile up 1,050 passing yards and 11 touchdowns, while finishing as the team leader with 657 rushing yards and eight rushing scores. Davidov's best outing came against Susquehanna University when he racked up 275 yards and four touchdowns through the air, while rushing for 129 yards and a pair of scores.
DeCristofaro appeared in the first four games of 2016 before being sidelined for an injury that will continue to keep him off the field this fall. In those four contests, he recorded 31 total tackles at linebacker. DeCristofaro has appeared in 22 games and posted 97 tackles for his career.
Major has been a consistent contributor on special teams, using all of his 6-7 frame to deter extra points and field goals over the last three seasons. He also played at tight end last fall, appearing in all nine games and hauling in a pair of passes for 37 yards and a touchdown. Major's first career score came against Ursinus College.
Walker appeared in all 10 games in the secondary last season. He racked up 30 total tackles, including five against Moravian College. Walker has appeared in 20 games and posted 39 tackles.
Gettysburg, which finished 3-7 last fall, opens the year with a non-conference contest at Bridgewater College on Friday, Sept. 1, at 7:30 p.m.
