2019 NCAA DIVISION III BRACKET

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  – For the eighth time in program history, the Gettysburg College men's soccer team will march on to the NCAA Division III Tournament after earning an at-large bid, it was announced today.

Gettysburg will travel to Lexington, Virginia to face 18th-ranked Oglethorpe University in the first-round match-up on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1:30 p.m. Hosts Washington & Lee University takes on North Carolina Wesleyan College at 11 a.m. Saturday in the other first-round game with the regional final happening on Sunday back at W&L.

"I think playing in the NCAA Division III Tournament is a rich and lifelong experience that our players will never forget," said head coach Mark Mettrick. "Making the NCAAs this year is a massive step for our program and we are excited for the players and the program. We look forward to representing Gettysburg College and the Centennial Conference on the national stage."

The Bullets, who were one of four Centennial Conference teams to make the tournament, return to the national stage for the first time since 2001. Gettysburg went 11-7-1 overall and 5-3-1 in league play. The Orange and Blue defeated regionally-ranked Haverford College 1-0 in the opening round of the Centennial Conference Championship, but fell 3-0 to Franklin & Marshall College this past Saturday in the semifinals.

Oglethorpe is making its second trip in three years to the national tournament and concluded its regular season with a 14-4 record. The Petrels went a perfect 7-0 in the Southern Athletic Association to win their fifth straight regular season title. They advanced to the conference finals, but fell 4-3 in overtime to Centre College.

The NCAA tournament is composed of 64 schools. Forty-two schools receive an automatic bid by virtue of winning their conference title, one independent institution was chosen, and another 21 teams received an at-large berth.
