Women’s Track & Field Set for CC Indoor Championship

Championship Website

GETTYSBURG, Pa. The Gettysburg College women's indoor track and field will compete at the Centennial Conference (CC) indoor Championship in a two-day meet Saturday and Sunday at Franklin & Marshall College.

Eight Bullets find themselves ranked within scoring positions heading into the meet. Athletes must finish among the top-eight to accumulate points.

Gettysburg is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championship last spring, which marked the program's top finish at a CC event since taking third at the 2017 Centennial Conference outdoor meet. The Bullets are also looking to improve upon their seventh-place finish at last season's CC Indoor Championship.

Looking to pose a threat to medal for the Bullets are senior Paige Wesolowski (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket Regional) and freshman Caitlin Yap (Wayne, N.J./Morris Catholic), as they are tied for fifth (9'6.25") and ninth (8'6.75") in the pole vault, respectively. Yap's mark of 8'6.75" that she achieved last Saturday at the Susquehanna Invitational is a new personal record (PR), ranking her ninth in program history. In addition, Diana Bianco Riley (Seekonk, Mass./St. Mary Academy Bay View) is ranked fifth in the weight throw (37'3"), which is her new PR she set back on Jan. 26, while freshman Jessica Alessi (Nassau, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) is 11th (33'3") and freshman Katherine Mangione (Doylestown, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) is eighth in the shot put (34'2.75"). Alessi also posted a PR last Saturday in the weight throw, her 33'3" mark is posted as the ninth best at Gettysburg.

Freshman Katie Seccafico (Halesite, N.Y./Huntington) is seventh in the league in the high jump, clearing a height of 4'9.75" with fellow classmate Anna Pienkos (North Haven, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) coming in at tied for eighth (4'9").

Gettysburg could also find itself at the front of the pack in the 4x800-meter relay, as the Bullets enter the meet ranked first (10:42.51) in the league. Last year, the Bullets won the title in the event with a school record time to 9:42.17. They also became the first 4x8 team in program history to win a Centennial Conference indoor title.

On the track, senior Danielle DeMichael (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) enters the meet with the seventh seed in the 800-meter run (2:26.22).

Events will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. Fans can follow along with live results and live video of the two-day event.
