Day Two Results
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Freshman
Steven Heinbaugh (Fairfield, Pa./Fairfield) captured the win in the decathlon to lead the Gettysburg College men's track and field team on the second day of the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championship on Saturday at Muhlenberg College.
Through nine events, the Bullets have scored 35 points and are in sixth place among nine schools. Gettysburg trails to Ursinus College by just 1.5 points, while Dickinson College is five points ahead for fourth place.
Heinbaugh completed the decathlon with the last five events Saturday and finished with a personal record (PR) of 5,318, which is also now the sixth best outdoor mark at Gettysburg. On Saturday, he posted his highest point total (709) in the final event, clocking a 4:35.53 in the 1,500-meter run. He also scored 708 points in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.39. Coming into today's event, he made up more than 200 plus points to capture the top spot in the decathlon.
Junior
Sam Sheldon (Tully, N.Y./Tully) grabbed the bronze medal in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, shaving off 11.40 off his previous PR to clock a 9:28.44 time. He remains third all-time on the outdoor top-10 list at Gettysburg.
The Bullets earned team points from four other events by virtue of their top-eight finishes. Junior
Ken Barnes (Edison, N.J./Westminster School [Conn.]) placed fifth in the long jump, leaping a new PR of 22-05.75 to move him into sixth all-time at Gettysburg. The 4x800-meter relay team of senior

Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East), and Sheldon claimed fifth-place with a time of 8:00.18, which is now the ninth fastest mark at Gettysburg. Senior
Mike Cortese (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddon Township) tallied sixth-place in the discus, throwing 123-00, while freshman
Corey Palazzolo (Colts Neck, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) claimed seventh-place in the high jump (5-10.75).
In the preliminary events, four Bullets qualified for Sunday's finals in four different events. Sophomore

The third and final day of the meet begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday back at Muhlenberg.
