How It Happened…
- First Half: The Cardinals controlled the game early on with three shots and a corner kick in the first 11 minutes. Catholic jumped onto scoreboard first when Paul Egan collected the rebound off the goalkeeper in the 13th minute. It didn't take the Bullets long to respond as Muller drilled a header for the equalizer at the 18-minute marker off a free kick taken by Coulibaly. Gettysburg's defense limited Catholic to just one shot in the last 33 minutes of action, which Muhic stopped, to keep it a 1-1 deadlock at halftime.
- Second Half: Gettysburg looked to gain the lead in the 63rd minute when Aidan Giquinto (Medford Lakes, N.J./Shawnee) had an open lane at the goal, but Troy Young made the stop. The Bullets brought the intensity and kept much of the action down in the Cardinals' territory, which paid off in the 80th minute. Carracino sent a pass to Muller and immediately dished to Fife, who headed the ball into the back of the net for the game-winning goal. Gettysburg's defense did a stellar job, allowing only three shots in the half to close the regular season unbeaten at home.
