LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior defenseman
Andrew Horn (Bronxville, N.Y./Avon Old Farms) was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading Gettysburg College to a thrilling opening-season victory over the weekend.
Horn helped 12th-ranked Gettysburg (1-0) stave off defeat with a sterling fourth-quarter defensive performance in a 9-7 victory at Dickinson. The Bullets blanked the Red Devils in the final period while running off a game-ending five-goal run. Horn scooped ground balls on back-to-back face-offs that resulted in the final two goals of the game and knocked the ball out of the stick of a Dickinson player in the game's final seconds. He finished with team highs in ground balls (5) and caused turnovers (2).
Gettysburg, ranked 10th in the latest national poll, battles No. 13 Ursinus College in a top-20 match up this Saturday, April 10, at 4 p.m. at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium. No fans will be allowed at athletic contests hosted by Centennial Conference institutions this spring. All home lacrosse games at Gettysburg will be
streamed live and feature
live in-game statistics.
