THE SKINNY STORY
Aggressive back-and-forth play yielded Gettysburg's first overtime game of the season, where Haverford was able to snatch victory in the final minute.

THE LEADERS
Mackenzie Szlosek (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She also had two steals.
Emily Violante (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) was the Bullets' other player in double digits with 10 points, to go with four steals.

FOR THE FOES
• Ally Landau led all scorers with 17 points. She also had nine rebounds.
• Cortlyn Morris put up a monster 11 blocks, along with nine rebounds.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Both teams came out aggressive in the first quarter, which held 15 turnovers split almost evenly. An Emily Violante jumper in the first minute got the scoring started. Haverford countered less than a minute later, and the teams traded points over the next three minutes. Two Shinya Lee free throws tied the game at 6-all, where it would sit for the next two minutes. Ally Landau finally broke through with a jumper for Haverford with 2:25 showing, and the Fords widened their lead to six points going into the second.
• Gettysburg opened the second quarter with a 6-0 run to tie it up at 12-all, and the teams traded points to another tie at 16-all with 6:22 showing. It would be almost two minutes later before Erin Albright cashed in on a triple to give Haverford the edge, but less than a minute later Violante made her own 3-pointer to tie it up again. A 4-4 run by the teams made it 23-all going into the half.
• The Bullets took the lead early in the third off a Violante jumper, but held onto it for less than a minute before Haverford sunk another triple, the beginnings of a 13-8 run that put the Fords up 36-30 with 3:16 showing. Gettysburg put together five more to Haverford's two on the quarter to cut the deficit to three going into the fourth quarter.
• 30 seconds into the fourth, AB Holsinger (Crozet, Va./Langley) made a layup to make it a one-point game, but five by Haverford gave them a six-point lead, 43-37 with 8:11 to play. Baskets by Szlosek and Lee made it a one-possession game, but in the waning minutes Ally Landau found the net to give the Fords a four-point edge with 3:07 showing. The energy became electric within Bream Gym as Szlosek knocked down two pairs of free throws, making it 47-45 Haverford and forcing them into a timeout. Gia Flamini was sent to the line with only 27 seconds left, and hit one of her shots, meaning the Bullets would have to make a triple in the final seconds to stay in it. Holsinger delivered, sending a three through the net and forcing another Haverford timeout. After the timeout, Haverford had the ball but turned it over, allowing Gettysburg the opportunity to take it home; however, they missed the crucial final field goal, meaning the teams would go into overtime, tied 48-all.
Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) made a layup in the first 45 second of overtime to put the Bullets up by two, but Haverford countered with three of their own over the next two minutes to give them a one-point lead. Within the span of just over a minute, Haverford put up five points to Gettysburg's four, making it a 56-54 game. Again, Gettysburg would need a 3-pointer to win, but this time Cortlyn Morris was there with a massive block that shut down Gettysburg's chances with 30 seconds left. In the last three seconds of play, Kayla Robinson made a free throw, and Gettysburg couldn't convert on their final three point attempt, giving Haverford the 57-54 win.
