Muskingum pulled away from Gettysburg late to record a 64-55 victory in the opening round of the 2023 Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament.

Nate Williams triple keyed a 7-0 start to the game for Gettysburg but a personal 7-0 run from Zaveon Croff knotted the game with 14:11 showing. After
Ryan McKeon (Landenberg, Pa./Sanford [Del.]) and Duane Davis traded baskets, Muskingum made it an 8-0 run to take a 15-9 lead nearly three minutes later.
Jordan Stafford hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit in half but then both teams went more than three and a half minutes without scoring. A
Malachi Briscoe (California, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) layup cut the margin to 15-14 but Croff countered with a triple and the Muskies lead grew as large as eight en route to a 31-28 halftime edge.
• Croff stretched the lead to five with a layup a minute into the second half but then the Bullets ran off 11 in a row to open up a 39-33 advantage with 13:19 showing. Eight straight from Muskingum put the visitors back in front before
Carl Schaller (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) hit both ends of a 1-and-1 to tie the game with 8:56 to play. Neither team led by two until a Korey Robinson 3-pointer with 5:42 remaining made it a 51-46. The lead grew as large as 10 down the stretch en route to the nine-point win.

Carl Schaller finished with eight points, five rebounds and three assists.
• Gettysburg finished with a 50-39 edge on the glass with seven players grabbing five or more boards.
Filip Puzic (Belgrade, Serbia/Western Reserve [Ohio]) led the way with eight rebounds.
