• Bobby Ayscue went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, including a two-run home run in the third inning for the Eagles.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After Mary Washington worked around a pair of singles in the top of the first, a one-out walk to Jonathan Sedmak and Bobby Ayscue single to left put two runners on base. Sedmak was then thrown out trying to score on a Ty Lowe single to right. A double steal and throwing error with two outs staked the hosts to a 1-0 lead.
• Sedmak drew another walk to lead off the third before an Ayscue home run to left made it a 3-0 game. A walk to Lowe and one-out free pass to Ryan Schwarz forced a pitching change. A two-out Mike Dennis single scored Lowe for a 4-0 advantage.
• Two free passes, a wild pitch, fielder's choice and groundout scored two more Eagles runs in the fifth to stretch the lead to 6-0.
• A one-out error, two stolen bases and a two-out single from Luke Guerzon plated another unearned run in the sixth.
• The Bullets, who had stranded nine runners through the first six innings, dented the scoreboard in the seventh.
David Preziuso (Middletown, Del./Caravel Academy) led off with a single to right before
Kyle Miller was hit by a pitch. A one-out walk to
Matthew Peipher (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.) loaded the bases before an RBI groundout and
Preston Toothman RBI single to left made it a 7-2 game.
• Mary Washington tacked on a run in the home eighth with doubles from Lowe and Schwarz.
• Back-to-back two-out doubles from Peipher and Jake Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) set the final margin in the top of the ninth.
