THE SKINNY STORY
Although they tallied nine hits, Gettysburg couldn't score any runs and suffered a shutout at the hands of Dickinson in the first game of a home-and-home series, 7-0.
THE LEADERS

Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) hit 3-for-3, including one double. He also drew one walk.
•
Preston Toothman (Orlando, Fla./William R. Boone) tallied three hits on four plate appearances.

FOR THE FOES
• Austin Buzza threw 6.2 shutout innings with five K's and only one walk.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Dickinson cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the third, after Kenny Tagliareni drew a walk and stole second. A single by Andrew Mazzone brought him home for the first run of the game.
• After only facing four Gettysburg batters in the top of the fourth, Dickinson plated two more runs in the home half of the inning. The Red Devils drew two walks and used a two-RBI double to make it a 3-0 game. Another run for the home team was then walked in in the bottom of the fifth.
• A double, single, Bullets' fielding error, and sacrifice bunt earned Dickinson their fifth run of the game in the seventh inning. Another sacrifice bunt and two straight singles scored two more for the Red Devils, who led 7-0 after seven.
• The Dickinson defense retired five batters in the top of the eighth and four in the ninth to preserve the shutout.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Dickinson outhit Gettysburg, 11-9. The duo of
Jack Pistner and
Preston Toothman accounted for two-thirds of the Bullets' hits on the day.
• The Red Devils defense tallied five innings wherein they only faced four Gettysburg batters.
