THE LEADERS
•
Matthew Peipher (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.) led the Bullets with five hits on the day, recording three in game one and two in game two.
FOR THE FOES
• Ryan Friesen had multi-hit games in both games for Mules, rapping out two knocks in each game.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Gettysburg jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first game.
David Preziuso (Middletown, Del./Caravel Academy) was hit by a pitch to lead off the game before moving to second on a groundout and scoring on a
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) single up the middle.
• Muhlenberg drew even in the bottom of the second. Jonathan Toth walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on a wild pitch before scoring on a Brendan Hughes single through the left side.
• Jack Kent started the third with a triple before scoring on a wild pitch for a 2-1 lead. A two-out Toth double and Hughes infield hit put runners at the corners. Caleb Tereska followed with a single for a 3-1 lead.
• Back-to-back one out singles from Jake Swedloff and Kent stretched the lead to 4-1 in the fourth before a leadoff walk and two-out Tereska single in the seventh made it 5-1.
• A dropped fly ball and back-to-back singles from
Mark Seibert (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) and
Matthew Peipher cut the deficit to 5-2 in the eighth before a Seibert scored on a fielder's choice to cut the margin to two.
•
JR McCloskey (Huntington Station, N.Y./Chaminade) led off the ninth with a single before giving way to pinch-runner
Zachary Klein (Downingtown, Pa./West Chester Henderson). Back-to-back bunt singles from Preziuso and
Kyle Miller (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) tied the game before a Pistner sacrifice fly gave the Bullets the lead. A Peipher double scored Miller for a 7-5 advantage but the Mules cut down a second run at the plate and then got a groundball to go to the bottom of the inning trailing by two.
• Caleb Schwarz led off the home half of the inning with a single to right before a one-out Hughes single put the tying run on base. After a second flyout, Ryan Friesen doubled home both runners to tie the game and then pinch-runner Jonathan Suero scored on a Ryan Riccio single.
• In game two, Aidan Legner singled with one out in the home first before a two-out walk and Hughes single staked the host to a 1-0 lead.
• A Preziuso double, passed ball and Miller sacrifice fly tied the game in the third before the Mules went right back in front in the bottom of the frame. Schwarz reached on an infield single to start the inning before moving to third on a Toth single and scoring on a wild pitch.
• One-out singles from Miller and Pistner put runners at the corners in the eighth before Peipher came up with a two-out knock up the middle for a 3-2 edge.
• Tereska doubled with one out in the eighth before moving to third on a wild pitch and tying the game on a Friesen sacrifice fly.
• Both teams stranded a runner in the ninth before Toth drew a walk to start the home 10th. After a sacrifice and a groundout put the winning run at third, Friesen came up with a single up the middle for the game-winner.
