THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked 25th in the latest D3hoops.com poll, opened up a first-half lead as large as 18 points and withstood a rally to knock off No. 9 Johns Hopkins, 78-67.

THE LEADERS
Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison), the reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week, poured in career-high 22 points that included hitting four 3-pointers. She also had five assists.

FOR THE FOES
• Macie Feldman recorded 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Blue Jays, who had their 17-game winning streak snapped.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• After Macie Feldman hit the opening jumper of the game, Emily Violante (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) responded with a layup to spark a 7-0 run and Gettysburg led the rest of the way. A Mackenzie Szlosek (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) hook shot and AB Holsinger's (Crozet, Va./Langley) second triple of the game pushed the lead to 12-4 with 6:19 to play in the opening quarter. Two free throws each from Kimberly Hopkins (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) and Shinya Lee (Rochester, N.Y./Holderness Prep School) stretched the advantage to double digits for the first time at 18-7 with 3:27 remaining. Holsinger drained her third field goal of the first quarter to make it a 22-12 game after 10 minutes.
• Behind a pair of Alayna Arnolie triples and a banked 3-pointer from Reagan Chrenscik (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Sudbury), Gettysburg put together an 11-4 run to start the second quarter and stretch the advantage to 17 just 2:21 into the period. Johns Hopkins twice closed to within 10 but an 8-0 run extended the lead to 43-25 en route to a 45-30 halftime edge.
• Michaela O'Neill scored the first four points of the third quarter, closing the deficit to 11 just 2:02 into the half. The lead remained between 10 and 14 points until two Marah McHugh (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) free throws pushed the lead back to 15 but Feldman hit a layup in the waning seconds to make it a 62-9 game entering the final period.
• Six straight points from the Blue Jays trimmed the deficit to single digits with 8:29 to play – the closest the visitors made it since 16-7 with 4:13 to play in the opening stanza. Johns Hopkins got as close as six on a Beth Corelli layup with 5:41 to play that made it a 67-61 game. Szlosek, however, drove and connected with 4:33 showing to push the lead back to double digits. Feldman and O'Neill combined to trim the deficit to 72-65 but Arnolie canned a straightaway 3-pointer to make it a 10-point game with just 1:48 to play and seal the win.
