THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked 25th in the latest D3hoops.com poll, build a 15-point lead in the first quarter before having to stave off a late Haverford charge to hold on for a 61-60 victory.

THE LEADERS
Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison), the reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week, recorded her third straight 20-point game, netting 21 points to go with four rebounds, three steals and two assists.

FOR THE FOES
• Ally Landau led the Fords with 22 points and nine rebounds. She also had four assists and three blocked shots.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• The teams traded baskets in the early going but trailing 5-3, AB Holsinger (Crozet, Va./Langley) converted a three-point play with 8:15 on the clock to spark a 14-0 run that opened up a 17-5 lead over the next four minutes. Holsinger and Alayna Arnolie contributed five points each in the run while Shinya Lee (Rochester, N.Y./Holderness Prep School) added four. The lead swelled to 22-7 on a pair of Marah McHugh (West Chester, Pa./Villa Marie Academy) free throws with 2:58 showing en route to a 24-11 lead after one quarter.
• Haverford scored the first seven points of the second quarter to trim the deficit to six with 7:46 remaining. A Mackenzie Szlosek (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) triple sparked a 7-0 counter, however, to push the lead back to 31-18 with 5:56 on the clock. A pair of Abby Ryan baskets and an Ally Landau 3-pointer helped close the margin to four before the Bullets were able to push the lead back to nine but five points from Landau on a Gia Flamini steal-and-layup in the waning seconds made it a 38-36 game at the intermission.
• After a back-and-forth start to the third quarter, a Ryan putback tied the game at 43-all. Arnolie, however, responded with a triple on the other end to put the visitors back in front with 4:10 remaining in the period. The lead remained between two and five points for the rest of the quarter with Gettysburg taking a 51-48 lead into the final 10 minutes.
• Five points from Szlosek in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter extended the advantage to 56-48 before two Arnolie free throws and an Emily Violante (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) driving layup pushed the lead to 60-48 with 3:40 on the clock. Haverford slowly chipped into the deficit, holding the Bullets without a field goal the rest of the way. Clinging to a 61-56 lead with 48 seconds to play, Gettysburg appeared to make a 3-pointer but a shot clock violation was called. The play went to review, where it was initially overturned to be a good basket, but then the officials went back the monitor and deemed the shot no good once again. Shea Mercer hit a layup on the other end to cut the deficit to three. Landau made it a one-point game with 14 seconds to play. A backcourt violation was called after the ensuing inbounds and the Fords' game-winning elbow jumper attempt was off the mark as time expired.
